You may notice that CPF LIFE payouts begin at Age 64 on the chart for some clients, and at Age 65 for others. This is expected behaviour and does not affect the accuracy of the projections.
How CPF LIFE Payout Works
CPF LIFE monthly payouts commence from the month the member turns 65 (or the chosen payout start age), based on their date of birth.
How GoalsMapper Displays Age
GoalsMapper's chart displays the client's age last birthday at the point the projection is generated. CPF interest rates and contribution rules are computed on a calendar year basis (Jan–Dec), so the chart aligns each projection year accordingly to ensure the rates shown for a given age are consistent.
Why the Displayed Age May Differ
The age at which CPF LIFE payouts appear on the chart depends on whether the client has already turned 65 at the time the projection is run.
Example 1 — CPF LIFE payout appears at Age 64
Client: Born 15 October 1960 Projection run: March 2025 Age last birthday: 64 (turned 64 in Oct 2024; has not yet turned 65) The system projects forward and determines that CPF LIFE payouts will commence in October 2025. Since the client's current age last birthday is still 64, the payout start is reflected under Age 64 on the chart. |
Example 2 — CPF LIFE payout appears at Age 65
Client: Born 15 March 1960 Projection run: June 2025 Age last birthday: 65 (already turned 65 in Mar 2025) CPF LIFE payouts have already commenced by the time the projection is generated. The client's age last birthday is 65, so the payout start is reflected under Age 65 on the chart. |
Summary
| Scenario | Age Last Birthday | Payout Shown At |
|---|---|---|
| Projection run before client's 65th birthday | 64 | Age 64 |
| Projection run after client's 65th birthday | 65 | Age 65 |
Rest assured: The underlying CPF LIFE computations are accurate. Payouts always commence at the correct time — the client's birthday month in the year they turn 65. The difference is purely in how the age label is displayed on the chart, depending on when the projection is generated. |
