In Singapore, registering your Will with the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) Wills Registry is not mandatory, but it's a good idea for peace of mind.
The Wills Registry, maintained by SAL, is a confidential registry where you can deposit information about your Will, which includes where it's stored and details about you. This information can be helpful to your executor and beneficiaries if the original will is misplaced.
The Wills Registry does not keep the actual Will or a copy of the Will in their Registry.
The following information is kept in the Wills Registry:
- Details of the person making the will i.e. testator;
- Date of the will;
- Details of the person who drew up the will; and
- Details of where the will is held.
To deposit a Will record or to search for a Will record with the Wills Registry, you will need to access an online form by logging in to the Wills Registry website.
*Fee - Will Deposit $50/per submission & Will Search $10/per submission
